Note: The original hymn was written by Father Ranald Rankin in Gaelic and went on for 29 verses. They where sung at Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve in the islands of Barra, South Uist and Eriskay in the Outer Hebrides, which are off the west coast of Scotland.
